HOW Global is going to India!

We are now working with Kenosis Foundation to bring water to our first Green Hub community school project in India, just outside the city of Bangalore.

It is a small village, where roads are unpaved and people live in poverty without food and water security. Currently, women and children spend hours they could be in school and working to make a living for their families gathering water. Our base there will be a private rural school serving more than 700 children and 1000 local citizens who will enjoy access to fresh water at the school and via pipes extended out into the community.gathering water in india

As always, we will begin with the installation of a rainwater catchment systems at the school. As this takes place, we will also teach the schoolchildren about clean water issues, sanitation and hygiene, and respecting the environment.

The next steps will be a small agricultural project and development of a local task force to manage the projects once they are complete. Finally, when it is clear the community is prepared and willing to sustain the project themselves, a borehole will be drilled and pipes installed to deliver water out into the community.

During this time, American interns will support the project and liaise with the community and leadership, ensuring the project meets their needs and desires.

Once the initial Green Hub is in place and functioning, an additional 10 schools will be developed into a cluster, serving families currently living without sufficient access to water and resources.
